Programme management of a large infrastructure handover of a (1 million sq. ft) science park in Cheshire.
The Company: Bruntwood SciTech
Bruntwood SciTech are located at Alderley Parkin Cheshire, which is a world-leading life science and innovation campus, home to over 300 businesses.
The Problem
Bruntwood SciTech needed to smoothly and effectively transfer the entire site’s infrastructure at Alderley Park from AstraZeneca. This included all of the services on the site (measuring 1 million sq. ft); consisting of (but not limited to) the following:
- All Fire/Security services
- All Energy and Utility services
- Farm and entire site estate
- Site services e.g. engineering cleaning, maintenance, environmental and food/beverage
- Scientific services
- Sustainability aspects of the site
This was an incredibly complex and emotive task that needed an expert project consultant on board to manage all processes involved in delivering this project.
The Solution
After taking the time to understand the scope of work, it was extremely important to understand the who, what, when and why to understand what success looked like. After this initial step Pete then proceeded to pull together a project methodology to deliver the work. This involved the following:
- Identifying all stakeholders from each business
- Developing clear reporting metrics to report on said progress
- Creating a schedule / project plan to deliver said project
- Establishing a clear communication plan
- Led various cross business meetings at varying levels to ensure timely discussions. The deliverables were discussed, reviewed and agreed upon to enable the project to progress smoothly.
- Ensuring every stakeholder had a full understanding of project objectives, how they would be achieved and exactly what part they had within this process to make it happen and therefore gain stakeholder buy-in.
The Result
The project was successfully delivered on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of both parties. The site is now thriving. The consultancy services provided by Probitas were a vital part of where it is today.
I worked with Peter on the handover of services at Alderley Park, a very complex site in Cheshire. Peter provided structure and real clarity to both our team and the team handing the services over. Having made clear what needed to be accomplished and when, he then ensured that all the necessary meeting took place, along with provision of accompanying information.
